Well, you can't skate without a deck or wheels or bearings or trucks.
But its right for you to pick a board that fits you.
Like if you have large feet you might want to get a 8 ply skateboard.
If you have small feet you might want to buy a 7 ply skateboard.
When your picking your board be sure to
-Check the brand
-See if it has any pressure cracks or dirt spots
-And also feel how light it is.
-And of course if the graphic is right for you.

Once you have a deck get trucks and all the other parts .
